As Nigeria commemorates 33 years since the pivotal June 12, 1993 presidential election, civil society organization Enough is Enough (EiE) Nigeria has launched an ambitious campaign to register one million voters ahead of the 2027 elections. In collaboration with the crowdfunding platform Crowdr, this initiative aims to bolster electoral participation and empower citizens to exercise their democratic rights.
The campaign underscores the pressing need for increased voter engagement in a country where electoral apathy remains a significant challenge. “We believe that every citizen’s voice matters, and our goal is to ensure that as many Nigerians as possible are ready to vote in 2027,” stated Yemi Adamolekun, Executive Director of EiE Nigeria. This initiative not only seeks to enhance voter registration but also aims to educate citizens about the electoral process and their rights.
As Nigeria approaches the next election cycle, the success of the campaign could reshape the political landscape. By mobilizing civil society and leveraging technology, EiE Nigeria aims to create a more informed and active electorate, potentially transforming the dynamics of power in the nation's democracy.
