The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an extension of the scheduled outage on the Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330kV Single Circuit transmission line to facilitate the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW). This decision underscores TCN's commitment to enhancing the resilience and efficiency of Nigeria's electricity infrastructure, a crucial step for a country grappling with persistent power supply challenges.
The outage, initially planned to be brief, has been prolonged to ensure the completion of essential upgrades. TCN's initiative not only aims to improve transmission capabilities but also aligns with broader efforts to modernize the national grid. "This extension is vital for our ongoing commitment to delivering reliable electricity and improving safety standards across our transmission lines," stated Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, Managing Director of TCN.
Additionally, TCN has successfully restored the Mando-Kumbotso facility, which is expected to further bolster the region's power supply. Looking ahead, these developments could signal a turning point for Nigeria's energy sector, potentially attracting investment and fostering economic growth as infrastructure improvements gain traction.
