The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an extension of maintenance work on the critical Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330kV line, emphasizing the ongoing challenges faced in maintaining the nation’s electrical infrastructure. Initially scheduled for completion in mid-April, the repairs resumed on May 23 and are now set to last until June 30, 2026. This line is vital for ensuring stable electricity supply across northern Nigeria.

This maintenance extension highlights TCN's commitment to addressing infrastructural deficiencies that have plagued the sector, contributing to frequent power outages. "We are dedicated to restoring and enhancing the reliability of our transmission network," stated Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, Managing Director of TCN. His comments reflect a broader recognition of the need for consistent upgrades and maintenance to meet growing demand.

As the maintenance work progresses, the TCN’s actions may pave the way for improved electricity distribution, but it also underscores the urgent need for long-term investments in Nigeria's power infrastructure. Stakeholders will be keenly observing how these efforts impact overall power supply and economic activities in the region by the end of June.
