Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged state governments to fully leverage the $750 million State Action for Business Enabling Reforms (SABER) Programme, emphasizing the need for swift implementation of business-friendly policies. Speaking in Abuja, Shettima directed the Director-General of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) to seek a one-year extension for the programme, which aims to streamline regulatory frameworks and enhance the ease of doing business across Nigeria.

The SABER initiative, launched to address systemic barriers to investment, has the potential to transform local economies by attracting foreign direct investment and fostering entrepreneurship. However, its success hinges on the commitment of state governments to adopt necessary reforms. "We must work collectively to ensure that this funding translates into tangible improvements that benefit our citizens and the economy," Shettima stated.

As Nigeria grapples with economic challenges, the effective execution of the SABER Programme could be a turning point for many states. If state governments embrace this opportunity, Nigeria could witness a significant uptick in business activities, ultimately driving economic growth and development in the years ahead.
