In a significant humanitarian initiative, Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has launched a $1.5 million food aid scheme aimed at alleviating food insecurity in Nigeria. This project will distribute 24,302 food baskets, each weighing approximately 60 kilograms, containing essential items to vulnerable populations.
The initiative comes amid increasing concerns over food shortages exacerbated by economic challenges and climate issues in Nigeria. As global food prices remain volatile, such support is crucial for millions struggling to meet their basic nutritional needs. "This partnership underscores our commitment to supporting Nigeria in times of crisis," stated Khalid Al-Mansour, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria.
