Kaduna and Delta states have emerged as the top performers in Nigeria’s governance landscape, outpacing 34 other states, according to the latest Commonwealth Institute of Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) Governance Performance Index for 2025. This recognition underscores significant strides made in public administration, transparency, and citizen engagement within these states.

Under the leadership of their respective governors, both Kaduna and Delta have implemented innovative policies aimed at enhancing service delivery and fostering economic growth. Kaduna's emphasis on security and infrastructure development has been particularly noteworthy. "Our focus has always been on creating a conducive environment for growth and stability," stated Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State. Delta, on the other hand, has prioritized social welfare and education, which have contributed to its improved governance rating.

As the nation grapples with various governance challenges, the achievements of Kaduna and Delta could serve as a roadmap for other states. With increasing calls for accountability and efficiency, it remains crucial for leaders to adopt best practices from these top-ranked states to foster sustainable development across Nigeria.
