In a significant move to boost industrial growth, the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has forged a partnership with the Jigawa State Government, the Nigerian Commodity Exchange (NCX), and Astound Power Limited to deliver 7 megawatts of electricity to seven industrial clusters. This initiative aims to enhance productivity and attract investment in the region, addressing a long-standing issue of inadequate power supply that has hindered local businesses.

The MoU is a strategic response to the energy challenges facing Nigeria's industrial sectors. By focusing on electrification, the partnership is expected to stimulate economic activity and create jobs, particularly in agriculture and manufacturing. "This collaboration will not only empower our local industries but also pave the way for sustainable development in Jigawa," said Dr. Ahmed Mohammed, the REA's Executive Director.

As Nigeria seeks to diversify its economy and reduce reliance on oil, initiatives like this one highlight the importance of partnerships in achieving energy security. The success of this project could serve as a model for other states, potentially transforming the landscape of industrial energy supply across the country.
