The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has taken a significant step towards enhancing energy access in Nigeria by commissioning a 505kWp solar mini-grid in Epe, Lagos State. This initiative aims to provide reliable electricity to five underserved communities, marking a crucial advancement in Nigeria's rural electrification and clean energy efforts.
The mini-grid is part of the government's broader strategy to tackle energy poverty and promote sustainable development. Historically, many rural areas in Nigeria have struggled with inconsistent power supply, hampering economic growth and quality of life. "This project is a game-changer for these communities, empowering them with the electricity needed for education, healthcare, and economic activities," stated Ahmad Salihijo, Managing Director of REA.
