Pan-Atlantic University (PAU) has taken a significant step in advocating for ethical communication within local governance, a critical area often overlooked in Nigeria's political landscape. During a recent workshop attended by Lagos State local government media delegates, PAU emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in public discourse. This initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to enhance governance and foster trust between authorities and citizens.

Dr. Ayo Olutunde, the Director of PAU’s Centre for Media and Governance, stated, “Effective communication is the bedrock of responsive governance. It is imperative that local media officers uphold ethical standards to build trust and inform the public.” This call to action comes at a time when misinformation can easily undermine democratic processes and citizen engagement.

As Nigeria approaches pivotal elections, the need for ethical communication becomes even more crucial. Strengthening local governance through improved media practices could lead to increased civic participation and a more informed electorate. The PAU initiative not only addresses immediate challenges but also sets a precedent for a more accountable and transparent governance framework in the future.
