In a significant move to enhance local expertise in the oil and gas sector, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Chevron and Bristow, has launched a pilot training program for aspiring aviation professionals. This initiative aims to equip ten Nigerians with world-class skills tailored for the offshore oil and gas industry, addressing a critical need for specialized manpower in this vital sector.
The training comes at a time when Nigeria is striving to increase local participation in its oil and gas operations, which have historically relied on foreign expertise. Obinna Ezeobi, GM of Corporate Communications at NCDMB, emphasized the program's importance, stating, “This training will not only empower individuals but also foster a sustainable workforce for the future of our oil and gas industry.”
Looking ahead, this pilot program could serve as a model for similar initiatives, potentially catalyzing further investments in local training and development. As the sector evolves, the integration of homegrown talent will be crucial in ensuring Nigeria's energy sector remains competitive and self-sufficient.
