The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has formed a strategic partnership with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission to enhance digital literacy across the Southwest region. This collaboration aims to address the growing digital divide and establish a comprehensive framework for digital transformation, crucial for economic growth and social cohesion.
As Nigeria increasingly shifts towards a digital economy, the need for a skilled workforce has never been more pressing. The DAWN Commission's focus on regional development complements NITDA's mission to foster IT literacy. “This partnership will not only empower our youth but also significantly improve the overall economic landscape in the Southwest,” stated Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of NITDA.
Looking ahead, this initiative has the potential to catalyze a broader movement towards digital proficiency throughout Nigeria, equipping citizens with necessary skills for the future job market. By fostering collaboration between government agencies and regional bodies, the synergy could serve as a model for similar efforts nationwide, ultimately contributing to a more digitally inclusive society.
