The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is set to enhance the qualifications of its coaching workforce by organizing CAF B-Licence refresher courses alongside CAF A-Licence training. This initiative comes as part of an ongoing effort to uplift the standards of football coaching in Nigeria. The course fees are substantial, with local coaches expected to pay N3,000,000, while foreign aspirants face a fee of $3,000.
Historically, the NFF has faced challenges in maintaining a high caliber of coaching, which is critical for the development of talent and competitive performance. This move reflects a commitment to professionalize the coaching landscape and align it with international standards. "Investing in our coaches is investing in the future of Nigerian football," said Ibrahim Gusau, NFF President.
As the country gears up for significant football events, these courses will likely play a pivotal role in equipping coaches with modern tactics and strategies. The NFF's proactive stance may not only improve local leagues but also enhance Nigeria's competitiveness on the continental stage, fostering a new generation of skilled coaches ready to elevate the national game.
