The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to candidates against seeking ‘backdoor’ admissions into Nigerian universities, emphasizing the importance of adhering to official admission processes. The statement comes amid rising concerns about fraudulent admission practices, which undermine the integrity of the educational system. JAMB Registrar, Is-haq Oloyede, highlighted that once a candidate accepts an admission offer through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and prints their admission letter, their details are automatically added to JAMB's matriculation list. This list serves as the official record of legally admitted students.
Oloyede remarked, "Any attempt to circumvent the established process not only jeopardizes the individual candidate's future but also threatens the credibility of our educational institutions." This warning aims to deter potential misconduct, particularly as the new academic session approaches.
As the education sector grapples with challenges of access and integrity, JAMB’s reaffirmation of its protocols is crucial for maintaining standards. Moving forward, it remains essential for both candidates and institutions to uphold transparency and fairness in admissions to foster a more equitable educational environment in Nigeria.
