IHS Nigeria has made a significant investment in the future of Cross River State by training 100 local youths through its Project Empower 2026 initiative. This program, which focuses on skills in solar energy, electrical work, beauty services, and soap production, aims to foster self-employment and stimulate economic growth in the region.

The training comes at a crucial time when youth unemployment remains a pressing issue in Nigeria. By equipping these young individuals with practical skills, IHS Nigeria seeks to empower them to create their own opportunities rather than relying solely on traditional job markets. “We believe that investing in our youths is investing in the future of Nigeria,” said Ndidi Okonkwo, IHS Nigeria’s Community Engagement Manager.

Looking ahead, the initiative not only addresses immediate unemployment concerns but also contributes to broader sustainable development goals. As these trained youths enter the workforce, they may inspire similar programs across Nigeria, potentially leading to a ripple effect of economic empowerment and innovation in underserved communities.
