In a bid to enhance digital inclusion, the Federal Government has launched the Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D) Programme. This initiative, announced on July 21, 2026, aims to provide affordable financing options for citizens seeking laptops and internet-enabled devices, crucial for fostering a knowledge-based economy. With rising educational and employment demands, the government recognizes the necessity of bridging the digital divide.
The scheme will allow consumers to access credit for purchasing essential tech tools, thereby promoting increased connectivity and learning opportunities. As Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, stated, “This programme is a significant step towards ensuring that every Nigerian has the tools they need to thrive in a digital world.” The initiative comes at a time when many citizens still struggle with limited access to technology, exacerbated by economic challenges.
