The launch of the National Youth in Agribusiness Land Trust Fund (YiALTF) marks a significant milestone in addressing land access challenges for young entrepreneurs in agriculture. Spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD) in collaboration with the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA), this initiative aims to unlock economic potential by providing youth with the means to cultivate arable land.
The YiALTF seeks to empower young agribusiness leaders by facilitating access to land, financing, and technical support. This is particularly crucial in a sector where land ownership often poses barriers to entry. "This fund is a crucial step towards fostering a new generation of agricultural leaders," stated Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, Director General of IITA. His remarks highlight the initiative's potential to transform the agricultural landscape, bridging the gap between youth aspirations and productive opportunities.
As the program unfolds, it is poised to create a ripple effect, enhancing food security and promoting sustainable farming practices across the nation. By prioritizing youth engagement in agribusiness, the YiALTF not only addresses immediate economic needs but also sets the foundation for a resilient agricultural future in Nigeria.
