In a significant move to enhance economic opportunities for women, eHealth Africa (eHA) has opened a procurement pipeline aimed at empowering women-owned businesses across 11 states. This initiative, announced on June 30, 2026, seeks to foster gender equity in the competitive landscape of institutional contracts, a sector traditionally dominated by male entrepreneurs.
eHA has already trained 213 female entrepreneurs, equipping them with the skills necessary to navigate the procurement process effectively. This program not only targets capacity building but also aims to create a more inclusive business environment. "By investing in women-owned businesses, we are not just promoting gender equality; we are also driving sustainable economic growth," stated Dr. Amina Mohammed, Executive Director of eHealth Africa.
As the initiative unfolds, it is poised to reshape the procurement landscape, potentially increasing the representation of women in various sectors. If successful, this program could serve as a blueprint for similar efforts across Africa, reinforcing the critical role of women in economic development and innovation. The commitment to inclusivity could ultimately lead to a more equitable and prosperous future for all.
