Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed petrol loading in naira at N1,215 per litre, restoring stability in Nigeria's volatile fuel market after a week-long suspension. This development comes amid ongoing adjustments in pricing at depots and filling stations, reflecting the dynamic nature of the downstream sector.
The temporary halt in operations had raised concerns about supply disruptions and price hikes, further straining consumers already grappling with inflation. Industry stakeholders are relieved by the resumption, as it signals a commitment to maintaining market equilibrium. "We are pleased to see the refinery back in operation; this will help mitigate the ongoing fuel supply challenges," said Adetokunbo Adebayo, Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Association of Nigeria.
Looking ahead, the resumption of loading in naira is expected to stabilize petrol prices and enhance consumer confidence. However, continuous monitoring will be essential to address any fluctuations in supply and demand, especially given the global energy scenario. The government and stakeholders must collaborate to ensure that the refinery operates efficiently, contributing positively to Nigeria’s economic recovery and energy security.
