In a significant move to enhance media standards in Nigeria, the Center for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) hosted a workshop focused on investigative and ethical health reporting from May 19 to 20 in Abuja. This initiative gathered a diverse group of early-career journalists, mid-level reporters, and seasoned professionals, all eager to tackle pressing health issues in the country.
The workshop, themed "Investigative Skills for Covering Nigeria’s Priority Health Challenges," aimed to equip journalists with the necessary skills to uncover and report on health-related stories with accuracy and integrity. Participants engaged in sessions that emphasized the importance of ethical reporting, particularly in light of Nigeria's ongoing health crises. "Quality journalism is vital for public health awareness," stated Zainab Usman, CJID's Program Director. "Today’s training will empower journalists to hold stakeholders accountable."
