Residents of Bauchi, Gombe, and Adamawa states are bracing for a two-day power outage due to essential upgrades to the 330KV transmission line by the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO). Scheduled for July 19-20, this interruption aims to enhance the region's electricity supply and reliability.

This upgrade is crucial as the northern states have faced persistent power challenges, which have hindered economic activities and day-to-day living. “While we understand the inconvenience this may cause, the upgrades are necessary for long-term improvement in power distribution,” stated Engr. Mohammed Ali, NISO’s Director of Operations.

As the upgrades proceed, stakeholders hope this will lead to more stable electricity in the future, potentially alleviating some of the hardships faced by residents and businesses. However, the immediate impact of the outages poses significant challenges, particularly for those reliant on electricity for daily operations. The commitment to enhancing infrastructure signals a positive step, but effective communication and support for affected communities will be key to minimizing disruption and fostering public trust in ongoing power sector reforms.
