In a significant step towards addressing menstrual hygiene challenges in Nigeria, Baobab Microfinance Bank has supported 500 schoolgirls in Ilorin, Kwara State, through the distribution of reusable sanitary pads. This initiative is part of the bank's broader Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Project, which aims to empower young women and ensure they remain in school during their menstrual cycles.

The project not only provides essential hygiene products but also educates communities about menstrual health. According to Dr. Fatima Abubakar, the program coordinator, “This initiative is crucial in breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation and ensuring that girls have the resources they need to thrive academically.” With many girls missing school due to lack of access to sanitary products, such interventions are vital for promoting gender equality in education.

Looking ahead, Baobab MFB plans to expand its outreach to more communities, further reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility. By investing in the health and education of young women, the bank is not only fostering individual empowerment but also contributing to the long-term development of the region.
